|
|
So Im on to my next project. Didn't make the wife happy since we haven't even used the pop-up once to go camping in, but I figured it was worth it. Neighbor was trying to sell his 18ft contained pull camper for three hundred bucks... Needs some work and a good cleaning. Anyways tried to get him to trade straight across pop-up for camper but he didn't want the pop-up. I told him thats fine I'll pay him when we sell the pop-up. Listed it on Craigslist monday and Weds we met 1/2 the way for $40 on top of the $600 we sold it for... Yay up $300. Sad part is I told the neighbor he could get at least $500 out of it and he "didn't want to waste his time" Wonder if he feels the same now...lol It needs some wood replaced and some other things done but think it was well worth it. Get some pictures when I get a chance. The wife says it has to be done before the end of April because she is planning a camping trip with my sister. Will have to see how it goes.
She asked me if it was hard selling these things I work on. The only thing I could say was , no As long as I'm making profits on it I'll do it anytime. _________________ it's only what you make of it!!! |

gotta love it when a plan works out.... 18ft is a big trailer in my book. I have seen some 8 and 9' stand up trailers that I'd love to have but I'll stick with my 13'. I wouldnt want anything bigger though. I'm all about convieniance... _________________ I make stuff up! |

I agree that it is'nt a small trailer. It's gotta bathroom and a front couch that goes into a bed... as well as the table. The kids are getting old enough they can sleep out in a tent on their own so it was basically for me and the wife. The bathroom is nice cause some areas we camp don't have any bathrooms etc.... you just pull up wherever you want on the grass and camp. I'd have to say however it is far from taking a motel suite down the road with you. Yes those rigs are nice with the slides and all but is it really camping? This one was more for the convenience and all not to make extended stays in it.
As far as fuel mileage goes we bought a conversion van with the extended top on it so there won't be much for wind against the trailer since the van is still higher then it. The van was bought for the same reason... Enough room to take the wife, kids, an extra one or two, the two dogs and still have room to be very comfortable. Pluss the TV and DVD make longer trips so much quieter when their wearing the headphones and I'm listening to the radio. It's like driving a lazyboy down the road.
Haven't got it out yet... The camper that is. It's in the neighbors yard behind us and it has been way too muddy around here to pull it out. Should be this week though since the wife gave me a deadline of april 15th to have it completed. _________________ it's only what you make of it!!! |

lol keep us updated with pics as you go. I've got the high top conversion van too and I love driving it. Its a cushy ride and the aloha tucks in nice behind it. I'm hoping I have time and money to rip it apart this year to clean it up again. _________________ I make stuff up! |

A sure sign you're getting old is a bathroom in a camper with a sleeper sofa. LAMO
Give it a few more years and I'll be upgrading to the double twins in the back bedroom _________________ it's only what you make of it!!! |

It's just kinda difficult to tow a camper up the river or portage it into the backcountry is all
My dad has a fairly new Jayco popup that I might try and talk him into letting us borrow a couple times this Summer. We used to camp in popups when I was a kid and it is nice for sure being high and dry and warm. _________________ Strange but not a Stranger |
