I am newcomer to boat building, I hope to build the following,
Lutra Laker, Light MOTOR Boat 17' 6, Designed for light trailer
• Length: 17 ft 6 inches (5.34 m)
• Beam: 48 inches (1.22 m)
• Draft: 4 inches (102 mm)
• Weight: 150 pounds (68 Kg) - approx
• Displacement at 4 inches: 770 pounds (at 102 mm, 350 Kg)
• Outboard motor: 10 HP maximum

As anyone build this boat?

Is this the boat? Looks like a longer, narrower and no doubt lighter version of my fishing boat (which I did not build, factory made). How do you plan to use it? Rivers, flats or?? Mine works nicely on rivers both motoring and poleing, it's a lot of work rowing any distance. The flat bottom and hard chines of the Lutra should make for a drier ride than a round chined hull which pulls a lot of water up the sides and into the air while on plane.





Welcome to BBO Gaffer and keep us posted if you start building, there have been a few small boats built around here and some good tricks and tips learned and shared.
